Life Without Barriers is a leading provider of innovative, community-based services for:
- Children and young people in crisis, and their families
- People living with a disability
- People living with a mental health issue.
Our organisation was founded in 1995 by a group of people in the Hunter Region, NSW, Australia, who had a vision for improving the lives of people living with disability.
This core mission has resulted in an organisation that passionately pursues the provision of the best possible service for people in their community. We now have a presence in all states and territories in Australia and expanded into New Zealand in 2008.
In collaboration with suitably qualified and experienced people in New Zealand we identified a need for a similarly structured outcome-driven service. We presently provide services for vulnerable children, young people and their families, with a vision to expand services in future to support people living with a disability and those living with a mental health issue.
We have a model of care that’s recognised for its flexibility and quality, and we’re respected by our peers in the Australian community services sector. Wherever possible and appropriate, all our programs support connections with family, culture and community. We pride ourselves on responding to the needs of individuals and helping them find a place in their community.
Our approach values meaningful, healthy relationships. It's what makes us unique and is the foundation of everything we practice. We facilitate links for the people in our care to become part of their local community. The development of relationships in turn facilitates participation by our clients in life's opportunities and personal growth.
